Shame RX: Regret does not have the final say.

 1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Regret. That thing you just agonize over, wishing you could change. It fills you with anxiety as you turn it over in your mind over and over again, thinking somehow it will change.

Regret is another word for shame. And we often try to cover our regret or think about it in a different way, because the truth of our regret stings too much.

But whether that regret comes from sin or not, confessing it to God and speaking to that regret from the word of God is the only thing that will transform that regret into hope.

Every regret has been covered by the grace of God. It might still leave a scar we remember, but when we redeem regret with God’s perspective,  we see that everything in our lives He uses for our good and His glory.
