Inspirational Thought of the Day:
The message we carry to this world is not of this world.
Scripture of the Day:
1 Corinthians 5:18-19
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”
Each one of us represents something or someone bigger than ourselves. We might work for a big company, serve at a large church, or be a part of a constituency of people who believe a certain way. We represent our families, our race (more on this later), and any classification that man gives. But the most important representation we give is as a child of God.
The associations of this earth all pass away along with their temporary purposes, but those Who have been reconciled to God, whose sins have not been counted against them – their purpose is eternal. Temporary representations matter, too, and can have an effect on eternity, but the message we carry to this world is not of this world.
Yesterday I shared about our great need to speak out. In the words of Paul, “I believed; therefore I spoke.” But what is it that we speak of? As representatives of the God of this universe, we must carry clearly the message of the One who sent us.
The definition of the term, “Ambassador” gives me pause: “A person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.” As people who have tasted of God’s mercy and seen His forgiveness – that He would not count our sins against us – we must promote this amazing truth in a way that people can perceive it.
We tend to make things complicated down here, sometimes can make salvation hard. Denominational differences, cultural differences – they just don’t matter. It creates confusion when God’s ambassadors are in disagreement with one another. Sounds like a master plan from you know who – you know, the author of confusion.
But when we set aside our preferences and stop being legalistic about the grace God has given, we remove stumbling blocks that can impede people from seeing this great salvation. Keep it simple, team. God does not count one single sin against those who would accept His free gift of salvation. No addendums, no hindrances or “cliques”. All brothers and sisters born from Adam (yep, that includes every race, too), who carry the most precious message this earth has ever heard.
Go, tell it on the mountain – go tell it in every sphere of influence you have. Our God has forgiven us. People do not have to walk around in shame or disbelief. By the grace of God, may we represent well. His salvation is too great to not make it evident to all.
God, help us to never lose passion for the message was the salvation of our souls. May You reach people through us all for Your glory.
