Shame RX: Comparison is never an accurate measure of our worth.

2 Corinthians 10:12 

“We wouldn’t put ourselves in the same class with or compare ourselves to those who are bold enough to make their own recommendations. Certainly, when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves to themselves, they show how foolish they are.”

This world tries to find worth by finding a standard and comparing to others. Thank God that He already met the standard on our behalf. And yet . living in this world, we will find ourselves inviting shame into our lives by falling into the comparison trap from time to time.

But having shame from comparison is like comparing an apple and an orange. Neither the apple or the orange sets the standard and neither is better than the other. It is mere preference, a subjective reasoning that allows one piece of fruit to be picked over the other.

So why would we ever compare to another person, envy what they have, or feel we do not measure up?

Our confidence is not in being equal or better than . another. It is in Christ alone. Shame Off You, friends!
