Shame RX: No temporary shame can keep us from God’s plan.

Sitting in a prison cell wondering how he got there, Joseph must have felt shame. Who wouldn’t? And powerlessness. But when we look at the end of the story, we see that God’s purposes are always so much deeper than the here and now. No matter how many times people try to limit or suppress us, God’s purposes will not be thwarted. Isn’t that good news? Ultimately, Joseph’s shame was temporary and ours is, too. And what the shame is achieving by our yielding to God through it all is miraculous. No temporary shame can keep us from God’s plan. What was meant for evil will be used for good for those who love Christ Jesus.
