Scripture of the Day:
“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.” Proverbs 4:23 (EXB)
Blow Your Mind Concept:
Our God who gave us our minds is capable of helping us to control them and yield them to His authority.
Mindset. A simple compound word that has brought down nations. Mind. Set. Simple enough. And yet so complicated. To be set is to be fixed upon an idea or thought or belief system. Sometimes this can be an awesome thing, especially when our minds are fixed on Christ and His Word. And sometimes the results of a mind set on evil can be devastating.
Think Hitler. One man managed to affect others with his twisted concept of what was superior. A race, better than others, and yet he proved that the human race – which includes all races, shades and ethnicities – is so very desperate of help when it comes to renewing our minds. Left to our own thoughts, we are headed for disaster.
It is not so easy to pick our mindset because our personalities vary widely and contribute to out dependency upon mindsets. We want something to believe in and we want to be right. The pride of man locks our mindsets in as we face the world with our ideologies and principles.
Like the name implies, the mindset is formed by giving it authority over us and solidified by repetitive behavior that cements our mindset. Depending on what our minds are set upon, our thoughts can lead to a defining moment of ruin or victory.
Will we forfeit the power that is ours, or resist the thought patterns that entrap us? The choice truly is ours. Our God who gave us our minds is capable of helping us to control them and yield them to His authority.
What thoughts are you thinking today? How are you filtering them? What strategies do you use to help you overcome thoughts that are not uplifting?
