How do you shift the narrative in your mind from your lack to Christ’s sufficiency? In Christ we have the gift of confidence at Christmas and all year through. Confidence that we can approach His throne and confidence that our worth depends on Him, not us.
It is hard to believe this year is coming to an end! A year ago our basement flooded, leading to nine months of working on fixing our basement while I finished my PhD and took care of my mom. It has been a crazy year, and it went by SO FAST. But honestly, does anyone ever have a normal year? If so, I would love to hear about it! (Well, maybe I wouldn’t, lol.)
The Gift of Confidence: In Christ Alone
The holidays can be challenging. As moms, they can be heart-wrenching. The empty nest has been hard. Real hard. But looking at the birth of Christ afresh this year, I am struck by what Christ accomplished through His birth and, ultimately, resurrection and ascension.
Christ gave us salvation. Transformation. Healing. Forgiveness. A relationship with our Father in Heaven. And so much more.
We have been given everything we need in Christ. Everything.
2 Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
This should give us a lot of security and confidence. We truly lack for nothing, but that does not mean we will have everything this world affords.
In fact, this world and the enemy of our souls are continually trying to rob us of this beautiful confidence we have in Christ.
The Gift of Confidence: In Christ’s Sufficiency
So friends, as we give and open the gifts we receive, I pray you will embrace the gift of confidence this Christmas.
This world strips away our confidence and identity, chipping away at our worth. We can struggle to be confident in Christ and His calling in our lives. We can find ourselves constantly plagued by trying to measure up to a never-changing standard.
But our worth is established in Christ, and our confidence is sure and set. We do not have to seek confidence from this world because our confidence does not depend on anything in this world anymore.
If you have been feeling worn down this year, I wanted to share this poem I wrote to encourage you to trust in Christ alone. Nothing in this world can satisfy or sustain us like Jesus.
Merry Christmas, friends! May this Christmas find you basking in His perfect peace, confident that you belong to Him and He is your righteousness!

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our
time of need.” —Hebrew 4:16, NIV
In shadows deep, when doubts arise,
I lift my gaze to endless skies.
With Christ beside me, my heart takes flight,
In Christ my confidence, I find my light.
Through storms of life, He guides my way,
His Word my shield, come what may.
His joy my strength, my steadfast friend,
In Christ my confidence, I can depend.
Death cannot triumph, nor any sin,
For in His love, His grace wins.
With faith unshaken, I stand tall,
In Christ my confidence, I will not fall.
So here I stand, my soul set free,
With Christ, my hope, my victory.
In every step, I boldly tread,
In Christ my confidence, all fears are shed.
Mindset Hack of the Week
Gifts are not always seen for what they are. In Christ we have received all we need when we accepted Christ, but leave many of these gifts unopened.
The mindset hack helps us to release the struggle of inferiority and instead replace it with humility and confidence that Christ is enough when we aren’t.
All for Jesus,
Denise
