What are you afraid of?

Fear has a way of making possibilities feel like realities. One fearful thought becomes another, and before long, we can find ourselves mentally living through circumstances that haven’t even happened.

But just because we feel afraid doesn’t mean fear is telling us the truth.

In this episode of Monday Mindset Reset, Dr. Denise Pass takes a biblical and theological look at fear—from its entrance into the human story in Genesis to the ultimate hope of Revelation. Along the way, we’ll discover how Scripture distinguishes between fear and anxiety, why our thoughts can intensify our fears, and how the mind of Christ helps us respond to fear with faith rather than allowing fear to interpret reality for us.

Through Psalm 56:3–4, Matthew 6:25–34, Philippians 4:6–9, Proverbs 9:10, and other passages, we’ll see that Scripture doesn’t simply tell us, “Don’t be afraid.” God gives us a way to think differently in the presence of fear.

In this episode, you’ll discover: How fear entered the biblical story and why it so often makes us want to hide. The difference between fear that responds to a real threat and anxiety that anticipates what might happen. How David responded to fear by intentionally choosing trust. Why Jesus redirects our anxious thoughts to the Father’s knowledge, presence, and care. Paul’s practical prescription in Philippians 4 for prayer, thanksgiving, peace, and truthful thinking. Why the fear of the Lord puts our other fears into their proper perspective. How the hope of Revelation reminds us that fear does not get the final word—God does. Five Antidotes to Fear

Remember — God is near. Release — your fear and trust Him. Rest — in your Father’s care. Replace — the lie with truth. Revere — God above all.

This Week’s Mindset Reset

When fear rises, don’t just say, “I’m afraid.”

Ask yourself:

What am I afraid of? What am I believing because of this fear? What does God’s Word say is true?

Then choose one Scripture that speaks directly to the belief beneath your fear and rehearse that truth every time the fear returns.

Because fear loves possibilities, but faith anchors itself in truth.
