Unentitled Inheritance

Good morning, friends! Day Seventeen! Sometimes waiting for the fulfillment of plans is hard. But God’s plans are certain and can never be thwarted. And friends, His plans are always purposeful plans for our good.

Bible Reading: Isaiah 9-12

Verse of the day: Isaiah 14:24, “The LORD Almighty has sworn, ‘Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.’”

Word of the day: Planned. It is the Hebrew word: יָעַץ (yaw-ats’)

I had the Hebrew word: דָּמָה (daw-maw) listed in the journnal, but the word for planned here is Yaw-ats’.

This word means: Thought, “to compare, imagine, think or believe, intend.”

God’s Purposeful Plans

Isaiah 13 begins a section ending at Isaiah 23:18 where he prophesies against the nations, beginning with Israel and Judah. Our verse of the day is a reminder that God’s plans don’t fail. There is no escaping God’s purposes or plans. Isaiah prophesied according to God’s word and plan, not his own.

His Plans Are Good

There’s a saying – fail to plan and plan to fail. But for Christians, our planning needs to be in accordance with God’s will. Some people like to plan ahead, and some do not. But God always plans ahead. In fact, He predestines our path. As author and theologian Warren W. Wiersbe stated, Predestination is a destination planned beforehand. This predestination is for the saved and it is not the same as fate or destiny. God plans for you and I who are in Christ, friend.

His plans are that we would be sanctified. And that our plans and will would line up with His. Can we let go of our plans and trust God’s plans for our lives? God was intimately involved in the outcome for His people in the Old Testament and so He is concerned for our details and plans today.

God’s thoughts are as good as actions. Isn’t it good to know that God thinks good thoughts about His people? Jeremiah 29:11 says, “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Application

        • Trust God’s plan, even and especially when it doesn’t seem to make sense.
        • God has a good track record and His plans always have a good purpose far beyond our own.
        • Surrender your plans to His will and watch Him repurpose your will for His glory and your good.

Go with God and His precious word, friends! Join us tomorrow in the book of Psalms.
