New year, new yearn

Are you ready to enter the new year? Confession: I am not. But each year I take inventory at the end of the year and consider the path I took and any changes that I should seek to make in the new year. As we prepare to embark on the gift of another year, may we not do things the same ol’ way and may the new year lead us to yearn in a new way for God and His Word.

New Year, New Yearn: Satisfied.

When we are too easily satisfied with the things of this world, we do not hunger for the things of God. We are creatures of comfort and it can be easy to be satisfied with lesser things. Being hungry is uncomfortable but hungering after God fills us like nothing in this world can. Pursue Christ to satisfy your Spirit and the flesh will take a backseat to urging you on to satisfy it.

New Year, New Yearn: Simplified.

Keep it simple. This girl here is not so sure I will fare well on this one, but as we yearn for God He will give us a new mission for the upcoming year. When we yearn to do His will, we keep things simple. And simple is a whole let less confusing than striving.

New Year, New Yearn: Stride

Our stride does not have to be perfect, but the more consistent we are in our pursuit of God, the more apt we are to continue to seek Him, growing our passion for Him and transforming our minds and hearts.

Mindset Hack of the Week

In the new year, cultivate a hunger for God. He will help us in this and work in us to yearn for Him and His Word (Phil 2:13).

The dictionary defines “yearn” as “having an intense feeling of longing for something.” The mindset hack this week is a reminder to help us yearn for God through the daily habits of praying, reading His Word, and worshiping Him. At the intersection of these three habits is satisfaction in Christ, which nothing in this world can compare to or satisfy.

All for Jesus,

Denise
