Walk in wisdom daily

Walk in Wisdom Daily

Wisdom benefits those who walk in wisdom daily. Their life is defined by it. The truly wise don’t know that they are. They know their wisdom is from God and they see their need of God. Walking in wisdom is a daily choice. We are prone to wander, but seeking wisdom pulls us back to a place of wonder as we remember what this life is all about.

The first 9 Proverbs are somewhat of an introduction to the second part of the book of Proverbs, which begins in chapter 10.

Proverbs 9 lays out a comparison between wisdom and foolishness.

Wisdom invites us to live differently. Folly invites us to live dangerously.

Wisdom’s focus is on God. Folly’s focus is on self.

We need someone higher than ourselves to live wisely.

Scripture of the Day: Proverbs 9:10-12

10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.

Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

11 Wisdom will multiply your days

and add years to your life.

12 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit.

If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.

Walk in Wisdom Daily to Avoid Pain

When people try to get us to do something foolish, we will be the ones to bear the responsibility and the repercussions for every choice we make.

In Proverbs 10 we see a comparison and contrast between those who walk in wisdom and those who don’t.

The wise son:

  • Brings joy (v. 1)

A foolish son:

  • Causes pain (v. 2)

The wise son:

  • Harvest crops (v. 4)

The lazy foolish son:

  • Sleeps during harvest and is stupid. (v.5)

Here’s the thing about wisdom. It is not acquired once. It is a lifestyle

We choose to walk in wisdom daily. Or to walk in folly.

And walking in wisdom or in folly both render consequences.

Continue to Walk in Wisdom Daily

I am humbled by the example of Solomon who had wisdom but had compromise in his life that led to severe consequences. Solomon did not continue to walk in wisdom in his personal life. If that can happen to Solomon whose book we are reading, it could happen to us.

The wise live for God. The foolish live for self.

Are you walking in wisdom today?

Look at your life today, friends. The good news is that God promises to give us wisdom if we will just ask. (James 1:5)
