“You’re enough, girl!” Ever hear that phrase? I’ve had enough of that phrase. Why? You ask? Because none of us are enough. That’s why we need Jesus. Finding encouragement when I’m not enough does not happen by trite phrases but by what God has to say about me. And you.

Name the Shame: Shame when I feel inadequate.
Name the Honor: Feeling significant and capable.
Two Truths and a Lie:

  • Truth #1: No one is enough.
  • Truth #2: Christ is our strength.
  • Lie: You can keep striving and will be enough one day.
  • OR (two lies, lol): You are enough.

Finding Encouragement When I’m Not Enough: You are Chosen.

We cannot find our value in our performance or in any worldly label or in creation itself. We were made for another world. And we don’t fit in this one. But we are chosen.

Were you ever picked last when people were choosing members for their team? Friend, I lived in that position. Dead last. I was not enough. But I was enough for God’s team. That means everything. The physical temporary reality cannot compare with the eternal one. And God did not just pick me or you because we were enough. Because we weren’t.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

Speaking of not being enough, check out my blog post this past week about how it’s ok to not be ok.

Finding Encouragement When I’m Not Enough: You Have Purpose.

God did not choose you because you were enough or because He needed you. But He does have a purpose for you and He will equip you for that purpose.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

Friend, when you are not enough, smile. That accusation is your vindication. Christ is your sufficiency and He dearly loves you. You don’t have to strive to be enough for Him. Just accept His incredible gift. His grace covers are inadequacies and sets us free from the world’s measures.

So shame off your inadequacies! We will never feel like we are enough or like life is enough because we have eternity in our hearts, friends. It was put there by God. He is enough for all we need and He is our sufficiency!

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
