Scripture of the Day:
Psalm 37:18-19
“The Lord knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will remain forever; they are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine they have abundance.”
The days are evil. Don’t believe me? Turn on the television. But we are to “Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.” (Ephesians 5:16). Even though we might be surrounded by evil in our culture, God knows our days and our heritage will remain forever. What a promise is contained in that Scripture!
The world may call what is evil, good and what is good, evil, but God’s standard remains the same.
We don’t bear shame when we are blameless before God in a crooked generation. How are we blameless? By the blood of His Son and walking in obedience to His word by God’s grace alone. When people are evil toward us and when we enter hard times, God sees us and removes shame that others try to place on us, too. We can remain unashamed and unpolluted in a polluted world when we are walking in the Spirit and resisting the flesh.
