Proverbs 29:23
“Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.”
Our culture is steeped in a sense of pride and accomplishment. Not all of that is bad when the motivation is pure. Striving for excellence for God’s glory and as one who seeks to be faithful to steward God’s gifts does not have to be prideful. The truly humble see their work merely as an offering back to God what He gave to us.
Still, sometimes we can give our best effort and fall short. There is no shame in that. At least we tried. Sometimes we will even be honored when it wasn’t our best attempt because God wants to encourage us to keep pressing on. God looks at our hearts in all we do.
Being humble is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a correct posture before a Holy God when we see our need of God. And the LORD rewards our humble admission with honor.
