What God Dismantles in the Waiting

Waiting rarely feels productive.

We pray, hope, and endure.
And nothing seems to change.

But what if something is changing?

What if, in the stillness, God is dismantling something deeper than the circumstance itself?

Shame often builds its home in seasons of waiting.

It tells us:

  • You are behind.
  • You should be further along.
  • If you were stronger, this wouldn’t be happening.
  • God is withholding because you are lacking.

And while we wait for the breakthrough we want, God quietly begins dismantling the lie we have believed about ourselves.

Shame Rx: Waiting is not where God shames us—it is where He reshapes us.

In waiting, God exposes performance-based faith.
He dismantles our need to prove ourselves, loosens our grip on timelines, strips away comparison, and confronts the identity we built around achievement, approval, or control.

Waiting humbles us.

But humility is not humiliation.

Humility says, “I am dependent.”
Shame says, “I am defective.”

There is a world of difference.

While we are asking God to move mountains, He may be removing the shame that told us our worth depended on climbing them.
While we are praying for healing, He may be healing the deeper belief that we are only valuable when we are strong.

Waiting does not mean God is dismantling you.
It may mean He is dismantling the false version of you that shame constructed.

And that kind of work is holy.

If you find yourself in a season that feels stalled, ask gently:

  • What might God be undoing in me?
  • What shame-based belief is losing its grip?
  • What identity rooted in performance is being replaced by grace?

Sometimes the breakthrough we are waiting for externally is preceded by the freedom we need internally.

And when God dismantles shame, love flows more freely, witness becomes clearer, and our hearts grow both stronger and softer.

🪞 Reflection Questions

  • What beliefs about myself has waiting exposed?
  • Do I equate delay with personal deficiency?
  • What part of my identity may God be reshaping?

🙏 Prayer

Lord, if there is shame I have carried into this season of waiting, gently dismantle it. Expose any false identity rooted in performance, comparison, or control. Replace humiliation with humility and striving with trust. Form in me a heart that rests securely in Your grace. Amen.
