Shame RX: Progress is still progress.
2 Chronicles 15:7 (NIV)
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
Stepping onto the scale I closed one eye and squinted with the other. As if this could soften the blow. A week’s effort. A whopping .6 pounds. Wow. Man, results like that want to make you throw in the towel. And I confess I felt shame in that moment.
As my accountability partner wrote down my progress I thought I should make sure she knew that I really did not cheat. I wanted bigger results. But could I be content with the results I got?
There is no shame when there is progress. Progress is progress. We are moving! The next week after switching to another diet I lost 2.5 pounds. Sometimes we have to find what works for us and just keep moving forward.
Don’t ever be ashamed with little progress or even if it seems there is no progress. If we are standing still, that means we are not moving backward, either. And that is most definitely progress, too. Keep going, friends! Shame off you!
