Shame RX: Whether we fail or succeed, what matters is that we gave it our best.

Psalm 33:11

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Sometimes we feel shame when we put ourselves out there to try something hard. We know the risk of failure is high. And others will know. Oh my!

So what?! If we fail, they would know that we tried. And failed, yes. But those sitting on the sideliness cast their judgement and never try.

I was late. Again. Maybe I need to change my goals, I thought. After a week of stumbling blocks, I wondered if maybe I just needed to throw in the towel on one part of the goal. And you know what? There would be no shame in that.

But then I realized the goal could change or shift. And just because it looked different than my original goal did not mean it could not still be a beautiful worthy goal.

Don’t let other’s assessments of your goals cause you shame. Your goals are between you and God. And whether we fail or succeed, what matters is that we gave it our best.
