Scripture of the Day:

Joel 2:27 (NIV)

“Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.”

Shame RX of the Day:

We cannot rid ourselves of our shame unless we are willing to investigate its cause.

Looking intently at the teacher, my face suddenly felt hot and became beet red. Being called out in front of the class was humiliating – especially when my actions did not deserve such a response.

But there I was, and no disappearing act could save me now. I had to accept the penalty and make the best of it.

I was not like those people who would just brush it off. No, shame pierced my soul and left a residue that affected me for years to come.

I had no idea the profound effect shame had on me and how far reaching it was. This week on the Shame RX page I want to explore the root and fruit of shame.

The source of shame varies widely. Understanding the root can help us to be free from shame growing and establishing itself in our lives. Family patterns, a guilty complex, abusive relationships are just a few. Pruning bad roots causes beautiful fruit to develop in a life set free from shame’s curse.

Ready to root out some shame?

What is some fruit that shame has wrought in your life?
